Peaceful World Conversations

As part of a movement to restore the lost art of conversation, Peaceful World Conversations bring people together to talk about topics that matter in their own lives and in the world as a whole. Popular for years as Breakfast Conversations at San Francisco's Red Vic, the Peaceful World Conversation movement now enjoys a spreading popularity. The existing and evolving reality in which humans live has always been birthed in ideas, then expressed in groups and carried into action. World Conversations combines these factors and sends its participants out into the world to share their knowledge.

Conversation Overview

  • Participants usually include traveler-guests and members of the local community. Drop-ins are always welcome.
  • Conversations are about sharing personal experience, not specific themes (although our experiences often steer the conversation toward important issues that have affected our lives)
  • The conversation opens by participants telling their names and where they are from, sharing what is in their hearts and minds regarding the question. The question is further explored in the next round.
  • The content of a Peaceful World Conversation relies on the specific experiences of the participants
  • Peaceful World Conversations invariably help participants nurture their ability to listen to other points of view and to carefully ponder how their own lives and travels are affecting the global community.
  • Breakfast time scheduling offers opportunity for friendships made over conversation to continue in later hours and days.

The ideas and questions that arise out of their conversations are carried to other places and shared with other people, so Peaceful World Conversations spontaneously grow into a worldwide network.
